Overview of evidence for education development
For those who drop one or the other or can not complete their secondary education there other option available. Students can earn their GED, officially defined as "General Educational Development", pass five tests issued by the American Council of Education. The GED is often informally referred to as the General Equivalency High, because those who pass the GED are considered equivalent educational skills of a high school graduate.
The GED credential was originally designed to help World War II soldiers returned home to find a civilian job. Many soldiers had stopped fighting in the war before finishing high school so when they returned, they need some type of certification equivalence school to find work. Subsequently, the United States Armed Forces called on the American Council on Education the design of such certification, and GOL was born.
To be eligible for the GED, it must already have a high school diploma. Taking the GED after having already graduated from high school would not make sense because the GED is equivalent legally a high school diploma, not above.
Those who are currently enrolled in high school are unable to pass the examination, because they are supposed to graduate, is against the rules for someone to have a regular diploma and GED. Last stipulation is that you must be eighteen older to participate in testing, although in some cases, seventeen allowed.
There are five games to test general GED: studies social, science, math, reading and writing. The editorial section has two parts, the first assessment of the organization and mechanical skills, and the need to construct a proof of the second party. This section covers social studies a variety of topics, including government, economics, history, general and geography. Science encompasses many areas as well as land, space, life and physical (physical) sciences.
Most of the questions in this section are accompanied by a chart in some way. Tests of reading the article in particular for reading comprehension, and includes both fiction , and nonfiction passages. Mathematics, along writing has two parts, one using a calculator and one that does not work. Topics covered include math and algebra basic operations on numbers, functions, geometry, statistics and probability.
The GED test is extremely hard strict, as the SAT, because they are both extremely important assessments. Thousands of testing centers exist to administer the GED. Those wishing to take the GED test must follow the rules specific. Conditions of Registration for the GED varies between districts, but most include some level of expense, to audit and identify evidence pre-exam practice.
Although the GED is formally equivalent to a high school diploma, college and employers do not see it that way. In fact, Some universities do not accept even the candidates who have a GED. This is because most people who obtain a GED high school dropout, and are considered lazy or incompetent.
For some people, however, the GED is your only option, such as immigrants and students taught at home are unable to obtain traditional high school. There are many supporters working to revise or improve the image of the GOL, in an attempt to make more palatable the certification of employers and schools.
