Algebra Problems Worksheets

How do you solve this kind of algebra problem?
I just started in Algebra 2 today and I’m having trouble with this worksheet with Algebra 1 stuff (ridiculous, right?) and I am having trouble figuring out this one kind of problem. I have a variable on each side of the equation. Here’s a sample:
15a = 3a + 84
Can someone tell me the procedure to figuring out this kind of problem? Thanks!
I’ve been teaching algebra 1 and 2 for 21 years.
study this way :]
15a=3a+84
-3a -3a<------------------minus 3a from each side
--------------------
+12a=84<------------ divide each side by 12
-------- ------
12 12 As you can see a is equal to 8.
