Algebra math problem I can not figure?

Ok, I looked in all the books I have and online help and I can not imagine how. A rectangle is 4 times longer than wide. A second rectangle is 5 inches long and 2 inches wider than the first. The amounts of the second rectangle is 270 square feet larger than the first time. What are the dimensions of the original rectangle?

You must first define the variables: width first rectangle: w first rectangle length: width rectangles second 4w + w 2 large rectangles seconds: 4w Five rectangles first zone: 4w ^ 2 rectangles second zone (w + 2) (4w + 5) Now write the equation: 4w ^ 2 + 270 = (w + 2) (4w + 5) and solve 4w ^ 2 + 270 = 4w ^ 2 + 13W + 13W = 10 270 + 10 = 260 13w Length Width = 20 = 4 * width = 80
