algebraic domain
algebra 1 help me!! domains?

how do i do this problem?
please dont just give me the answer.i need an example if possible.
thank you

Kevin ran 4 miles more than Steve ran. The sum of their distances is 26 miles. How far did Steve run? The domain of the solution is
{0, 4, 22, 11}.
a.Define your variable.
b.Write algebraic expressions for the distances each person ran.
c.Write an equation that can help you solve the problem.
d.Solve the equation.
e.Check your answer.

You need to set it up like this. If x is the number of miles that either of them ran, it would be (x+4)+x=26. So, simplify that to 2x+4=26, subtract the 4, and you get 2x=22. So, the miles either of them ran is 11 each, and add the 4 more miles for kevin, so kevin ran 15 miles and steve ran 11. You’re welcome.

Wait… Pal copied that from my brain… Hmm…
