Algebraic Manipulation Calculator

I`m alittle nervous about Chemistry this year, someone help?

I had alittle debate with my friend, I basically said. “Alrighty I`m going to give you a complete anaysis on my untitled point of view. First of all, My observation is that people struggle in general chemistry because they do not have an adequate background in math. That’s the #1 reason, bar none. I’m not even talking about advanced mathematics, but just basic algebraic manipulations and how to use a calculator effectively based upon that. Aside from out prior debate, the typical issues like not devoting enough study time, fooling around, and not taking the class seriously. If you’re older, you’re probably past these factors though; most of the younger students are the ones with these issues.” My question is what will I need to do to be a straight A student in this course? And what are the main factors of this course. [I know all of them just need to make sure]
I thank you all for all your answers, really helped alot :D

Yes, a proper math background helps in chemistry. I was able to survive and get my bachelor’s in chemistry, though. :) Basically, you can brush up on your math skills and it still won’t be enough. I tell people that I tutor and have tutored in the past that best thing you can do to succeed in chemistry is to study consistently. If you wait until the last minute, it will catch up with you. Just follow the PWRR method for notetaking: Preview (meaning read stuff in the textbook before coming to class, and any class notes from the previous class before going to class), Write (meaining take good notes – including anything the professor writes on the board), Rewrite (meaning recopy notes that you took in class within 24 hours so that your notes will be clean and accurate, because you may remember something from lecture that you didn’t write down for whatever reason – it also doubles as making sure you are reviewing your notes), and Review (which you can take care of with the previous step if need be).
Also, chemistry is, like any science, a lot like learning a new language. Learn terminology and learn it well. There is almost always a pattern, so look for those to help you out too. In addition, remember that chemistry is usually taught in a format that favors general to specific: you will learn about general topics in the subject, and then go into the nitty gritty details as the course moves on. Just be consistent and don’t be afraid to get help early, and you should do fine.

Hope that helps! Good luck in chemistry! If you have any more questions, just ask!
