Pre-algebra Lesson Plans
I am about to tutor someone in math. What do I do?
I know all the material (mostly pre-algebra and algebra I) back and forth (Currently AP Calc student), but it’s been a while and I don’t have a textbook. My goal isnt so much to teach the course, but to supplement my student in his school works.
What should I do? Do I just tell him to ask me questions, and review what he did in school?
Help me make a lesson plan template?
When I tutored people in math, they generally had a list of things that they wanted to go over if they were good students. I’d help them with homework problems from their textbook and have them try to solve the problems in front of me and help them out if they got stuck. If they were clueless they’d just show up with their textbook and wouldn’t know much more beyond where they were at in the book. Then I’d do more review work, since the student would need it before they could even do the work in their class. Make sure that they bring their textbook, then just work problems from there and make sure they understand all the concepts.
