Pre Algebra Vs Algebra

LPN to BSN questions?
Has anyone ever gone thru an online college to go from LPN to BSN?? I’ve been an LPN for almost 7 years and the college I went thru was non-accredited. Would this present a problem? Since my spouse is in the navy, I am considering going online vs. a university where we live since we move around a lot. I did take some pre-req’s towards my RN (psych 1&2, Algebra, Comp. 1 & 2) but it has been almost 8 years since that, and I’m not for sure if those courses are still valid. Those courses were taken at an accredited college, but I think I read somewhere long time ago, that they are only good for 5 years, and if it’s been over, you would have to retake them. Idk, maybe it varies college to college. So, If anyone has personal experience going from LPN to BSN, I would love any tips, advice and info!!!!
Hi fellow LPN (Life’s Perfect Nurse). I went through excelsior for my LPN-RN bridge program (well, I’m still doing it with only a few courses left to take!!!). The reason why I chose an online school was just due to the fact that I work so much and have a pretty hefty social life. The Nurse Practitioner on my unit went through excelsior, too. I heard of it before but I was scared to jump in just due to the fact that the nursing profession is so traditional that I think they would laugh at an online degree – not true. She’s a very intelligent, sophisticated, and kind NP. She gives those doctors a run for her money. I even talked to a Nurse manager on my “dream unit” and asked her if she would ever hire someone with an excelsior education. She said she loves nurses that come from excelsior!!
The program is tough and grueling. Though, I’m trying to get it done in 10 months…so far, I’m on goal. I’m even thinking once I get my RN, I’m going to work for a year and go back to excelsior for my BSN and then on to my NP. It’s pretty expensive (well, in my view…I’m 23 and I like to blow my money on meaningless crap still) but all the finical aid opportunities that are available for traditional schooling is also available at Excelsior. I’m happy with my choice.
I think you’re right about pre-reqs having a limited life span. I had to re-take biology and chem, but I did that through excelsior too. You just have to be very motivated and always have time to study. It’s easy to forget about a test, or what not, so always have a time line for your day so you remember.
